Boost + Lock 12HR Eyeshadow Primer

Sephora brand used to carry a really good dupe for the urban decay eye primer. This is not it. I gave it so many chances but it creased like crazy, just went back to buying urban decay because this product did not help at all. I wish they would bring back their old formulation.

For the price, this is actually a pretty decent eyeshadow primer. I didn’t love the texture because it feels a little too liquid at first, and it works better if you let it dry down slightly before applying eyeshadow. I have very oily lids, so I don’t think the ‘12HR’ claim is fully realistic for me, but it definitely helps eyeshadow last longer during a normal workday and reduces creasing compared to wearing shadows alone. Not my absolute favorite primer, but still a solid product for the price.

First off: I tested this with Sephora's own powdered eyeshadow. I did a control test first by wearing the same shadow with no primer to see how long the shadow would last without it. (answer: LOL, 10 minutes? Maybe? I'm gonna be up front, I have extremely dry skin, this was what I expected. Shadow tends to just blow off my skin) Then I tried the same shadow over the primer. Put it on at 7am and had fair (for me) coverage for about half a day. Around 1pm I checked again and noted I had significant color fade- BUT, there was still some shadow there. I reapplied the shadow and went about my business. Honestly, not a horrible result for my skin type. I would normally give this a recommendation EXCEPT for one thing. There's hardly any product in this tube! Look at that photo- that's what the wand looks like immediately after unsealing and opening. Y'all going to tell me that there's only enough primer in there to just baaaarely touch the tippity top of that applicator? How long is this supposed to last me? I honestly thought I'd gotten a badly filled tube until I checked the other photo reviews and NOPE. This just looks like how they fill all of their primer tubes. The opaque packaging is a pretty good indication that they intend to hide how much they're giving you. Super disappointed about that. The results of the primer weren't any better than any other products I've tried- in the future I'll stick to something I know works, but also has a transparent packaging so I know what I'm getting.

I like the formula and didn’t find it greasy. It helped my eyeshadow stay and look more vibrant! The bad thing about it is the packaging! I have a tough time getting product out even after shaking and rolling the tube!

Don’t let the price of this product for you, it’s cheaper than urban decay primer potion, but works just as well! My eyeshadow did not crease or separate and I have a very deep crease with lines in my eyelid, and the eyeshadow still did not separate with this product applied. It’s my new go to for eye makeup.

First use I was unable to get hardly any product out. Shook it, rolled it and still nothing, in fact one side of the applicator is visibly white when pulled out from tube as if it is new. I haven't encountered this before with any of Sephora's similar products. Decided to return it due to not being able to use it after immediately receiving it. The person who assisted me at the store when I explained the problem said "well less is more and then proceeded to attempt to apply it and show me on their hand". No they weren't joking. . . I just looked at her as no product came out, to which she responded, fine do what you want. I have never returned anything opened to Sephora before. I am not sure I will try or order any new product in the future as the store experience has been less than desirable. For a $12 item your employee basically inferred I was wrongly using it, when the whole reason for return was that it was unusable from the time of opening.

somehow made my eyeshadow last less. i creased so so so bad, worse than when i just use concealer. i’ve tried using different products under and on top of it, this product is just terrible. it creases basically as soon as im donemy makeup and only gets worse throughout the day. in the photo, i am wearing the primer, nyx waterproof eyeliner, and morphe black eyeshadow. i have never seen this eyeliner look so bad before.

After using this product for the past few weeks. I noticed something in my makeup routine in the eye area was getting dry and patchy looking. It took me a couple good times to realize it was this product. I would not purchase again

Never really cared for eye shadow primer because I didn't believe it was really a thing lol one day on a whim I said to myself, "let me try this"... and let me tell you, it was a great decision. this primer worked so great and kept my eyeshadow from budging all day...through sweat and everything. highly recommend
