Amika x Ellis Brooklyn Guava Granita Perk Up Dry Shampoo

I hardly ever write reviews but I feel like I’m obligated to with this product. To start, I’m a loyal Amica Perk Up buyer. It’s all I’ll use. It takes care of the greasy look without the white cast you get with other brands. HOWEVER this new Granita scent is SO STRONG scented. It smells 100% like baby powder and so much more so than the original. It not only triggered my asthma (which has never happened with the OG) but also gave me a killer headache. As a nurse I caution this product with people who suffer from asthma or migraines. So disappointed. I’ll be returning to the original version gladly. This is NOT worth the hype. Did it take care of the dirty roots, yes. Thus why I gave it 3 stars.

I wanted to love this so much since I’m a huge fan of Amika products, use them on the regular. Plus Ellis Brooklyn perfumes have been my recent obsession, specifically the guava. However, I was a bit surprised at the size of the bottle as the batiste dry shampoo I use is much larger for less than half the cost. This product left my hair feeling dry with a horrible white cast even after I tried rubbing it into my hair. For me, the only positive is how nice it smells. Unfortunately, I will be returning.

I really like the scent, but that’s about it. It did give me a small boost of volume and softness, but it only made my hair slightly less greasy. I used it on hair that wasn’t even that greasy, just a little at the roots, and it didn’t really do anything. I used it as instructed and brushed the product through several times. I also ended up applying a good bit of it in layers since I wasn’t seeing any change. Only saw a slight improvement by the end. I’m going to be returning because I just don’t see the point in having it.

The scent is amazing—fresh, fruity, and tropical without being overpowering. The guava fragrance lingers lightly throughout the day and makes my hair smell freshly washed. It absorbs oil quickly, adds a bit of volume at the roots, and leaves my hair feeling genuinely clean rather than coated or gritty. Unlike some dry shampoos, it doesn't leave a heavy residue or make my scalp feel itchy. My hair looks refreshed, soft, and full of movement, making it perfect for extending wash days.

Omg I love the scent!!!! Like Summer in a bottle. It’s so good. This dry shampoo does the job with resetting my 3 day old hair. It brings it back to life and makes my hair look and feel so clean. I’ll be taking this with me on my next trip. Love it!

This doesn’t seem to work well. I in fact am hardly noticing a reduction in oil at all. It also doesn’t smell great. It’s not a tropical juicy guava smell as I suspected and more of a powdery mature smelling guava.

I purchased this back in June and still haven’t finished it. I’m not reaching for it as often because it simply doesn’t work as well for me. The scent is okay, but I much prefer Perk Up and Perk Up Plus. I won’t be purchasing the collab versions moving forward. It claims to have the same familiar formula, but I honestly don’t believe it.

I love the smell and so does my husband, it works wonders for volume/re-vamping style but gosh the absolute buildup on my scalp from just a teeny bit (and I mean just a couple quick sprays) is actually mad - it’s like crisco and makes my hair feel dirty and heavy. I have to shampoo way faster when I use this and use apple cider vinegar to reset my scalp and calm my scalp psoriasis, which has never been the case with any dry shampoo I’ve used prior.
