This is the Liggett's that we started with over 20 years ago. It is still my favorite, although others in the family have branched out, just for variety. Liggett's Old Fashioned Bar Shampoo uses natural ingredients. We appreciate that a lot. Even if we did not have chemical sensitivities it would still be a great option and one that we would use. The bar lasts for 20 to 30+ hair washes, depending on the length and thickness of our family member's hair.

The only complaint I have is the bar is small but it lasts a long time, if kept dry. This shampoo is great! To those who have never used a shampoo bar, it takes time for your hair to transition. While wet, your hair will feel as if it's very dried out and hay like but that's the transition. Just wait until it dries and you'll be sold. Hair is so soft, very healthy feeling, clean as a whistle and your scalp feels amazing. I suffer from scalp buildup and this shampoo takes care of that issues. I love this shampoo compared to any of the other brands I've tried and it's so much less expensive.

I love this soap bar and use it to replace my shower gel and shampoo. It's simple and gets the job done. The only thing I dislike, are the sharp edges which fall off after the second or third shower. I've bought and used all formulations and love them all equally.

Have tried almost all varieties of the J.R. Liggett's shampoo bars and you can't go wrong with this Original Formula variety. Nice to use, good composition of natural and essential oils. Subtle scent. Washes hair well without completely taking out all the oils which will leave it too dry. This one, as well as the Herbal Formula and Moisturizing Formula ones are my favorite.

After switching to this shampoo bar, I’ve genuinely noticed less build‑up on my scalp and my hair feels cleaner for longer—especially after workouts. The lather is rich but gentle, and I appreciate that it’s made with simple oils like olive, coconut and castor rather than chemical detergents. I do need to follow it with an apple‑cider vinegar rinse (especially since my water is somewhat hard) because non‑detergent soaps sometimes leave a faint film. But overall, it’s become a favorite in my routine for both performance and sustainability.

This is a good-quality shampoo bar that doesn’t strip the natural oils from my hair. That said, I still use regular shampoo when applying oils or mask on my hair before showering. The size is a bit smaller than I expected, but it has a lovely natural scent and doesn’t make my scalp sensitive.
