The carafe has issues keeping coffee warm and it goes room temp after like 30 minutes. After about a year it’s stopped sealing and coffee gets all over my counter. I really wanted to love this but sadly I had to replace it.
Like the unit and its features. Just one issue. I cannot find how to remove the rainmaker showerhead. It just will not permit a move upward as described on the web. I don't want to force it. Does it need a light tap upward with a tool or small hammer?

I like the simplicity and size of this coffee maker. Wish the brewed coffee was hotter. I’m adjusting to the amount of coffee it makes. I may have needed to get the 9 or 12 cup but the height of the machine was a factor to fit easily under the cabinet.
We wanted to get away from the single cup coffeemakers that we’d been using for the past 15 years (“time is an SOB” ~ Oscar Martinez - The Office). After wasting money on a Bunn that didn’t live up to the quality of its predecessors, a KitchenAid that overflowed with normal use, and a Keurig again that frustratingly clogged; we landed on the 8-cup OXO with the single brew option and thermal carafe. Brewing that first morning coffee should not be a frustrating disappointment. The first cup is the star and the process should fade quietly to the background as the flawless, supporting player. With the OXO 8-Cup: the process is simple, the brewing is actually kind of cool to watch, it is quick, and the coffee is just as I’d hoped (you know the content sigh after the first sip? It continues with every sip). I wish I would have gotten it a long time ago and not listened to the nay-sayers who said an 8-cup wasn’t enough—because an 8-cup “…is just right” ( ~ Goldilocks of 3 bear fame).
Makes good coffee but splatters a lot and there’s a lot of plastic
A very reliable coffee maker. Its easy to clean, had a self cleaning option. There’s two brewing options - into the carafe and into a cup. The carafe is double insulated, but doesn’t keep the coffee hot for too long, it would’ve been perfect if it had a hot plate. Other than that’s its a great coffee maker.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This 8-cup replaced our defective 9-cup (courtesy of Oxo, which we appreciate). We like it but to our surprise, unlike the 9-cup, it has a basket rather a cone for filters, which results in a weaker, inferior brew. Otherwise it works well.
I really like that you can brew directly into a mug or into a carafe! It’s been reliable for years and it’s very easy to use. It makes really tasty coffee and the carafe keeps it hot for a long time.
