Briggs & Riley Work 2.0 Medium 17" Widemouth Backpack

Great business/workback pack with penty of space, easy access via the large U-opening, in an overall lightweight form factor.

I've owned and evaluated several bags over the years, and this is one of the best-designed bags I've encountered. Briggs & Riley clearly spent a great deal of time thinking through how people actually carry, organize, and access their gear. The build quality is exceptional. The materials, stitching, zippers, and hardware all inspire confidence, and the bag strikes an impressive balance between capacity, organization, comfort, and a clean, professional appearance. What sets this backpack apart is its accessibility. Practically everything is easy to reach without digging through layers of compartments or unpacking half the bag. The pockets are thoughtfully placed, the organization is intuitive, and every feature feels like it exists for a reason. Instead of forcing you to adapt to the bag, the bag adapts to the way you work. It also manages to be handsome. Whether I'm carrying it to my office, a client meeting, or traveling, it looks polished and professional without being flashy. If I could change one thing, it would be the identification card in the leather luggage tag. A backpack of this caliber deserves a thin plastic or metal insert instead of lightweight cardstock. That's a very minor criticism of an otherwise outstanding product. Briggs & Riley has earned its reputation. This backpack is exceptionally well made, beautifully engineered, and a pleasure to use. It's one of those rare products that feels better every time you use it.

This replaces an older style backpack with a wide mouth opening. The separate rear computer compartment is a nice addition but it puts the top carrying handle in a slightly awkward spot. Holding the bag with the front facing your leg should feel more stable when not carrying on your back or on a roller bag. Having a sleeve to attach it to a travel bag is great. A change of clothes, toiletries, pajamas and slippers can fit in the wide mouth compartment. This is a very useful travel companion.

This is by far the best quality backpack I've ever owned. The usability is even better than expected. Perfect product I'd say.

This backpack exceeded my expectations. The quality of the materials and construction is outstanding, and the organization is extremely well thought out. I especially appreciate the multiple compartments, which make it easy to keep everything organized for work or travel. It comfortably fits my 15-inch MacBook Air even while the laptop is in a protective case, with room for other essentials. The design is sleek and professional, and it feels built to last. Overall, it’s an excellent backpack for anyone looking for something polished, durable, and functional.

This is the perfect backpack for not only travel, but day to day commutes. It holds everything in a very organized manner. There’s a place for everything and more. I no longer have to dig around in the bottom of my bag in hopes of finding what I’m looking for. The straps are large and cushiony, but in the best way. It stands on its own and lays perfectly under an airplane seat- even when it’s full. I cannot say enough good things about it. Worth every cent!

I wanted to wait several months before writing this review. The widemouth backpack is superior and great quality and has many storage options for iPad and work computer. I have a 16inch MacBook Pro that fits in it without issues but I wouldn’t suggest any larger laptop. Seems like a ton of storage. I’ve been able to have several day trips with this bag and could even fit a comfortable 2 days to maybe even 3 days worth of clothes. I find myself forgetting about the zipper pocket on the luggage handle sleeve which is super helpful for documents or loose items. The Air Tag pocket makes this backpack secure and available at all times. The leather is good quality. I made the worst decision by storing food in the backpack and stained the interiors! Be extremely careful about storing any kind of food inside the bag. Would recommend this for everyone for the warranty alone but overall a great product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This backpack has made traveling a breeze with how it simply slides onto my luggage for hand free travel with peace of mind that my bag is protected. It fits up to 15” laptops and protects it from any damage with the soft protective interior. The wide mouth opening allows for me to put things inside with ease and has interior pockets to hold things from moving around inside of it. It is lightweight at less than 3 pounds while still providing superior quality with the padded shoulder straps and back that helps provide lumbar support. My favorite feature is the built in sunglasses pocket! I wear prescription glasses and this always keeps my sunglasses stored safely and protected while I’m not wearing them.

This bag has effectively become my mobile "home base," accompanying me everywhere. The wide-mouth backpack facilitates a clean, efficient organizational home that is a pleasure to pick up each day. I chose the deep navy option over the black (which is equally stunning) and feel the depth of the blue is reasonable for professional settings. Housing a water bottle securely is important for me and I can reliably maintain my 24 oz water bottle through vigorous travel and if a second bottle is needed on - the other side works in a pinch. The wide-mouth opening is a unique design choice that is a departure from all of my previous bags. The designed allows for keeping the bag open, next to my desk, serving as an extension of my workspace and reducing desk clutter. The wide-mouth zipper mechanism is high quality, but as others have noted, it can be slightly finicky at times, but not to the extent of causing daily annoyance. The easy-to-access zippered pockets make travel a breeze. I appreciate the inclusion of a hidden zipper on the back strap. However, I would prefer this pocket be located on the actual padded back of the bag as seen in other bags. On occasion, when placing an item in the pocket without looking, it has ended up behind the actual pocket. This requires a quick check to ensure the item is properly stowed, which is the worlds tiniest first-world problem, but worth noting. In terms of capacity, the bag holds an acceptable amount of items for its size. Its rigid structure doesn't allow for much stretch if you occasionally overpack, but this hasn't posed a significant issue for typical use. I do wish the front pockets offered greater capacity, though I understand this design choice is likely necessary to accommodate the wide-mouth opening. This is a supremely comfortable bag that travels well and is palpably high quality. Like any new piece of gear, you may need to make minor adjustments to your routine, but the bag works exceptionally well once you do. I look forward to using it every day and highly recommend it.

Smaller than it seems, very expensive for a basic backpack. Returned.
