As another reviewer said, it breathes well on the front of the shoe. However, my feet did not get sweaty. I bought it a 1/2 size larger than usual, which worked out well for me.

My doctor recommended I get shoes with stiffer firmer soles, because all my soft light sole recreational wear, work and casual event shoes were causing my foot pain issues. I noticed my two other Columbia hiking shoes with firm soles, did not give me foot issues. But I needed a firm hiking shoes that esthetically looked appropriate for work, casual and informal outings. The Transverse Hike Low WP Shoe was the answer. Comfortable fit for a firm sole. No pain, even when standing for long periods. The black color can slyly work for any casual event and even some semi-formal one (as long as it's not after romping around the dirt). I expect this shoe to last and be worth it the purchase.
