These curtains are made of a beautiful and soft fabric with lovely leaves on the design, but they DO NOT blackout 70% of the light. I would say they block possibly 40% - 50% of the light. They are "light-fiItering curtains." I cannot return them because I needed to hem them. For now, they are in our bedroom, so we need to wear eye masks. Eventually, I will hang them in another room. Both my husband and I are EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with them because they weren't cheap and now we need a different pair. GOOD LUCK to us; however, because Macy's offers very few room-darkening blackout curtains that have a print as these do, and others are very expensive. We might need to purchase from a different company, which annoys us because we like Macy's and are annoyed about this situation. :-(
