Bought it thinking it was another gimmicky thing didn't have very high expectations for it. They ended up working pretty well. Let's a little of the whites get away but if you get a good boil going it does a good job. Right water temp is key to success here
Exactly what my husband wanted! He is very happy to have the silicone egg poachers in his cooking collection. Makes poaching eggs so much easier.
The first dozen eggs I poached with this item came out perfectly. Ignore the poor reviews by people who didn’t read the very simple instructions. It would difficult to screw up a poached egg using this contraption. Easily rinsed off and folded up to store.
It was interesting. When I added the eggs to the poachers, a bit of white foamed up to the surface. After about two minutes, one of the egg poachers floated and turned sideways. However, after the time was up, the eggs were perfect.
Makes high-quality poached eggs easily. I bought two packs so I can have guests over (four fit nicely in a 5-quart pot).
Just follow the easy instructions, choose the amount of time on the chart provided and you will get a perfect drop egg every time. After years of guesswork and having the egg white dissipate in the boiling water, 98% of the egg stays intact. Plus it is still being poached directly vs. being steamed indirectly in a solid holder with other egg poaching devices.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my Oxo egg poacher though I am still getting the hang of it. So far I have overcooked the eggs every time because my timing is off. Also, cleanup is hard because egg residue sticks to the bottom of the saucepan though not to the egg poacher.

I tried the yellow egg poacher this morning (May 25 ,2024) and it worked fine (with twin eggs in one eggshell!) I hope to use it more from now on. I have yet to try the mortar and pestle that I purchased from Macy's but it looks good and sturdy.
