I first saw these on a friend and was jealous. Then I bought my pair. Wore them to work and on long days of site seeing in Europe. Did plenty of light hiking in them. Every once in a while I bought new laces and applied shoe polish to get them looking as good as new. Eventually, they served as my mountain biking and yard work shoes. After 8? years and untold miles. It was time to replacewith a new pair of Austins, of course! Love these shoes! Very versatile, comfortable, and great looking with jeans or khakis.

Tightly constructed and quite comfortable. Hopefully the shoes will soften with some use while the tightness does provide additional support.

I've been wearing this shoe for at least a couple miles a day 5 days a week since November and I think they are almost perfect. The toe is perfect, its stiffness is perfect and it looks great. My feet do not hurt when I get home and I walk everywhere in these shoes when I am off work as well. I used them on my bike the other day and they were great for that; really cut the wind on the feet. I am hoping for a waterproof non-slip version. Well done and thank you. I have yet to find a pair of Keen's I don't like.

One of the most uncomfortable shoes that I have bought in a long time. I have owned 5-6 other pairs of Keen shoes and was very happy with them. This pair was not comfortable when I first put them on. I figured they would be better after breaking them in, but after a year of wear no such luck. I am still a fan of Keen shoes. But when I buy shoes from this brand in the future I will no longer assume that they will get better with wear.

I use the Austen shoes for everything ! From use on the farm, irrigation, hiking, even putting new roof on my house, they didnt slip on the new roof paper, the best thing they dont track mud into my house, I hope to be abele to find this Austin shoes

this shoe has the stiffest leather I've ever encountered on a casual shoe. this alone made the shoe uncomfortable, but then the unyielding tongue was jabbing into my ankle. the product has been returned.

These shoes have changed, they don't fit the same as before, I've been wearing these shoes for years they were always comfortable but they have changed something, the material or design I don't know but I wish they had left them alone because I really liked them before.

I’ve owned at least 4 pairs of these… In my opinion, the Keen Austin *was* the ultimate all-purpose shoe. They go well with both jeans and casual dress pants (which alone is quite an achievement). I remember the first pair I tried on immediately felt like they were custom made for my semi-wide feet. The materials were rugged, but still flexible enough that they needed zero break-in. On top of that amazing comfort, I think they’re pretty stylish… They’re definitely casual — but not nearly as casual as a sneaker. They’re not trying to look “outdoorsy,” “athletic,” or “urban” either. Just a clean and simple design that *was* well made and built to last. But that was then. About 3-4 years ago, Keen started downgrading the quality of the Austin. As others have mentioned, they switched to using more glue and less stitching. They now also use MUCH stiffer materials for the upper, which means they require significant break-in time before they can even come close to the plush feel of the originals. The rubber sole also seems to wear out a lot faster. Lately, they stopped making the more stylish color variants… So it’s now black, brown, or nothing. They’re still decent shoes that, after months of frequent wear, can feel similarly comfortable to the old version. However, they’re just not amazing anymore, so I’ve been on the hunt for something else… But what I really want is for Keen to restore the Austin’s to their former glory.

The sizing is spot on and the shoes are comfortable for all day wear. It also just feels good to support a company that prioritizes environmental impact.
