Just felt too narrow and small overall.

Ordered these in suede finish three years ago for a trip. Wanted these again in the matte finish. Excellent boots for hiking, dog walking, rough trails. Comfortable for all day wear with excellent tread depth for rainy days and puddles.

The insole is quite thin, such that I can feel the raised waffle patter (nubs) with the sole of my feet. I am using the included insole and an additional orthotic insert to be able to wear them. Luckily they ran large so the space was accommodating. Will be adding cushion to the heel, since there is none and hurts the back of my foot when resting on floorboard during a drive.

The boots have a good rugged build, and light weighted than I expected. I took it for a 15km hike in Appalachian Mountain and it shows good water proof performance and comfort. One thing to remind is this boots are half size larger than expected. I usually wear 10 but I can only take 9 for this.

This makes about the third pair of Columbia's Newton Ridge boots. Wish I had these boots when I was hitting the peaks of Colorado instead of my 4 pound clunker go to battle boots. The Newton's weigh in at 1-1/4 lbs. I think. Getting the box from the Post Office I remember thinking 'I wonder if they forgot to put the boots in the shoe box'. Great price from Zappos. Did my maiden hike this morning and felt great! No break-in needed.

Ankle very stiff. Had to break in. Feels larger than size.

Great boots. Incredibly comfortable and look great. I should have bought these years ago. Need absolutely no break in time, good to go right out of the box.
