Use a spritz of water before the product
The Ordinary is one of the few lines that are not cost-prohibitive. This particular product goes on smooth and works well under a color foundation. But - a Mandatory task is to spray the face lightly before using it, or leave the face damp after washing and apply the product quickly. THAT is the moisture that the hyaluronic acid holds in.

New formula caused breakouts
I used the original product for years with no issues. The original formula wasn't available on either the brand website or Sephora, so I ordered the updated formula, which was a huge mistake. I'm now breaking out like crazy and my skin in bumpy. I have never had a reaction like this to the old formula. I have no idea why they reformulated and why the old one is now out of stock, but this is definitely my last time buying a product from this brand.
