I just bought my third Dyson supersonic hair dryer and this is the first one I have returned. It’s the supersonic r and I was so looking forward to having it. But…i had to return it. And here is why. And after reading a number of reviews I understand why I had to return it. Let me start by saying I love the weight of the actual dryer and the power. But…when I read the people said it kept stopping I was confused until I realized why it stops. The power pack is quite heavy and large compared to my other supersonic hairdryers. And the actual wall plug is a bit smaller. The power pack is also much closer to the plug than on the other ones. So the combination of it being heavier, closer to the plug and then plug being smaller is a disaster. The reason it keeps stopping is because the heavier and closer to the plug power pack is causing the plug to come away from the wall just slightly when you use the dryer. You have to keep pushing it back into the wall socket. If it were simply moved down further it’s possible that might not happen but alas, I had to return the dryer right away as I knew it would keep happening. Hopefully Dyson will fix this somehow because the supersonic r is a delight in itself but not worth the hassle of having to keep pushing the plug back into the wall socket. Be forewarned…..

Mine stopped working just two weeks after purchase, and Dyson customer service wasn’t helpful at all. Given the issues so early on, I returned it within Sephora’s window. For that price point, the longevity should be much better.
When it works, it’s great. However, this is an unreliable machine. It stops working randomly and I bought an expensive machine as an investment for my hair to look the way I want it to. It has broken down twice despite me managing the filter and keeping it clean so it doesn’t overheat. I have never experienced such a high maintenance machine. I’ve sent it to the repair shop twice and both times they respond telling me it’s my fault. Terrible customer service to do this. I have videos of it not working. I video called with rep to show clean filter and watch me reset it and it be approved to be sent twice to their repair shop. Do not buy.
I've had this for several months now and can affirm that it's the best hairdryer I've ever used. It dries quickly without high heat, which is important for protecting my gray hair from damage and discoloration, and the attachments are everything I need for a smooth blowout.
The dryer itself is really nice! It is super easy to use and very lightweight. It dries my hair quickly and the attachments “remember” the setting that I like for each one. One thing none of the reviews mention, how is the cord and the big heavy box it is attached to! I was hoping to use this dryer for travel, but the cord is very heavy and takes up a lot of space in a carry one! Otherwise, it is great!
I recently purchased the new Dyson hair dryer after initially planning to buy a second model of the previous version. Upon seeing the latest release and taking advantage of a promotional discount, I decided to try it—and I’m glad I did. The new model is noticeably lighter, though it does require some adjustment due to the redesigned handle. During my first use, I gripped the handle too tightly and experienced some hand discomfort, but by the second use, I had adapted and found it much more comfortable. The drying time was significantly reduced, and I noticed that my hair remained clean longer and free of frizz. Overall, this was a worthwhile investment, and I’m very satisfied with the results.
I love how light weight this is and it’s not as loud when you’re using it. I have shark that when drying it’s loud.
Not much more powerful, not much lighter, than the nural or even the airwrap. Overpriced for no reason, not worth it even at a sale price
I just started using the new Dyson Supersonic r™, and it’s honestly a game changer. King of all Hair dryers! Light? heck yes, powerful? very! I am in love, this hair dryer gets my Dominican hair dry very fast and smoothly.
