Compared to my usual serum, Hanyul’s red rice formula is thinner and lighter. It absorbs into the skin faster than any other serum I’ve used, which makes the application feel rushed, but it’s a great option if you need your skin care on a time crunch. Scent wise there’s a very mild sweetness that disappears as quickly as it is absorbed, so it shouldn’t interfere with other scented products. The one problem I have with it is that it intensifies blemishes. I currently have a mild acne breakout and the spots’ colour intensified (to be clear, there was no discomfort or increased inflammation, it was strictly colour shift). This has not been a problem with my regular serum, so I personally would limit usage of Hanyul to when my skin is behaving. Otherwise, an overall positive first experience with the brand.

I have very dry, sensitive skin, and my pores clog easy. So, I think this depends on your skin type. This did help with hydration, however, it caused white heads on my face. I had to return.

I’ve been using the Hanyul Red Rice Hydrating Serum for a few weeks now, and honestly—I’m obsessed. From the very first application, I could tell this was going to become a staple in my skincare routine. The texture is silky and lightweight, but it somehow delivers the kind of deep hydration I usually only get from heavier serums or creams.
