Skin Affair Soft Glow Cushion Foundation

I was excited to try this foundation but it was a disappointment. First, I haven’t been able to find a good enough shade match. I purchased the shade LN1 and it’s a little bit pale on me. The next neutral light shade YSL makes is LN4 and it’s far too peachy on me. I don’t understand why there aren’t other neutral light options. IF there was a shade LN2 it would probably be perfect, but they don’t make it! The other thing I don’t like about this foundation is it makes all of my pores noticeable. It kind of sits on my skin in an odd way. For reference, I have normal/dry, aging skin. While this foundation doesn’t settle into my fine lines, it makes my pores look huge, and I honestly don’t have enlarged pores to begin with. I tried using different primers and skin prep but haven’t been able to figure out how to get this foundation applied properly.

I really like this foundation ! It applies beautifully, blends easily, and provides great coverage without looking too heavy. My only complaint is the very small amount of product for the price. Even with minimal use, I feel like it would barely last a month, which makes it quite expensive for the amount you get.

This would be a 5/5 star as this is the most *beautiful* foundation I’ve ever worn, and I’m 37 and tried a lot. But, there is hardly any product! Runs out really fast.

Unfortunately, this cushion didn’t work for me. Although I chose a neutral-toned shade, it oxidizes and ends up looking noticeably yellow on my skin. It also doesn’t set on its own and stays quite tacky, which isn’t ideal for combination/oily skin. I would not recommend it if you prefer a more natural, non-yellowing finish or have combination/oily skin.

Let me start off by saying this product is AMAZING! I struggle only giving 4 stars, but the fact it only lasts about a month with daily use I can't give it 5. I don't use a ton you just don't get a lot of product. I guess that's not shocking being that it's under $50 for YVES beauty. But I'm thinking everyday maybe using a different foundation then pulling this out for a special occasion. Because it really is gorgeous on your skin!

This may be my favorite foundation of all time. Yes, it is quite dewy, so if you are very oily, it may not be for you. But if you are 40+ with dry skin and want your complexion to look fresh and even without completely covering every natural detail of your face, let me introduce you to your new best friend. It gives beautiful light-to-medium coverage with the softest, most flattering glow. You can build it to a fairly substantial medium coverage, but the more you build, the faster you will go through the compact. If you regularly wear it at medium coverage, I honestly think the 0.5 ounces may last only about a month. It sets beautifully with powder, which also helps tone down the dewiness without taking away that lovely glow. I do not find it especially long-wearing, but I almost do not care because it looks so beautiful on the skin. My biggest complaint is the amount of product. You get only 0.5 ounces, and it costs about 27% more per ounce than YSL All Hours Foundation. Why is this compact not refillable? I would happily commit to this foundation for the rest of my life if YSL offered refills at a slightly lower price instead of making us replace the entire compact every time. There is also a bit of a learning curve, especially when the cushion is new and heavily saturated. You need to tap the excess product off the puff and work it in gradually, or you can accidentally apply far too much. I highly recommend watching Robert Welsh’s video on properly applying cushion foundation. His technique makes a huge difference. If you prefer very light coverage, you will probably love this and get considerably more use from each compact…but it will still run out quickly. . If you want a true medium coverage, you can absolutely achieve it, but be prepared to replace this cushion constantly. 😂

this has such a beautiful, dewy finish and is SO easy to work with in my makeup routine. it just melts into your skin like butter and has a really nice cooling effect as it is applied! highly, highly recommend to anyone who's new to cushion foundations- i've gone through several and this is by far my favorite :) very user friendly and beautiful!

I love everything about this cushion except one thing- it needs more product or should come with a refill like most others do. It’s buildable and lightweight feeling with a gorgeous natural glow. Lasts all day!

One of the best foundations I have ever tried. It has some fragrance but it honestly looks so good it doesn’t bother me. I am near forty with dry skin, fine lines, large pores and dry patches. This was so flattering. It made my skin look glowy, hydrated and stunning. Not really too familiar with cushion formulas
