Black elderberries are among the top three fruits for anthocyanin content, second only to black chokeberries. What are anthocyanins? They are the most important of the 6 subclasses of flavonoids/bioflavonoids (the biggest family (60%) of thousands of plant micronutrients called polyphenols). They are predominantly found in red, purple, blue berries/grapes, and have powerful antioxidative properties. For comparison purpose, 100mg of whole dry fruit powder (10:1) - not an extract - contains, approx. about 0.4mg of anthocyanins. 100mg of NF's elderberry extract (64:1), on the other hand, contains 14mg while still able to preserve and retain the original phytonutrient fruit matrix of the whole berry (the original taste, flavor and aroma)! I have no doubt about Natural Factor's quality ingredient but the bottle cover doesn't "snap" tightly, unfortunately.

Great for colds....Highly recommend! Don't overdue them or you'll run out when you really need them. I keep three things on hand for cold season: this, Umcka Cold Care and Airborne (or store brand) All three are great for fighting colds and each have their unique ability to do so. All are great to begin at the first sign of a cold and to shorten the duration. I highly recommend all three but not to use at the same time. Get when you can and use it and see what works best for you. Zicam never worked for us so we gave up using it. This may or may not work for you. Highly recommend. Tastes good, too. Look it up: Elderberry is proven to fight colds.

I have started using this as the weather is getting hot and cold easily these days. I feel the immediate impact after I got runny nose with sudden hot and cold weather. This is good quality and fast action for me. The only issue I have with this is the soft gels difficult to segregate into each piece. Almost all the pieces are stick together and it's really difficult to split into each pieces. The moisture absorbent packs are not present and would be massive improvement if packed. There is no after taste and it is quite fast acting ingredient for me. So, I recommend this dietary supplement for immune support system and will buy again. Thanks for reading.

Bought this initially to help with immunity in the cold season and to protect my body from T. Gondii. After reading more about this extract I saw a study that says it modules the gut microbiota and helps Akkermansia muciniphila. Such a pleasant surprise! I have low levels of this beneficial bacterium and I'm looking forward to reaping the benefits of increasing the count with this extract!

Besides helping the beneficial gut bacteria called Akkermansia muciniphila, good for immunity, I found out while reading through the research it also scavenges hydroxyl radicals, contained proanthocyanidins improve insulin sensitivity, protect pancreatic beta cells, activate AMPK and GLUT4 for better glucose uptake, contained cyanidin-3-glucoside inhibit inflammatory cytokines and reduce nitric oxide levels. An other thing I personally noticed it improves mood (probably by lowering inflammation in the body).

This is a good brand of Black Elderberry with a European twist to it. Really good stuff and does what it says. I feel better after trying it.
