The reduction of vitamin A in beef liver through defatting is significant, often ranging from 80% to 90%. Because vitamin A is a fat-soluble nutrient, it is stored within the liver inside specialized lipid droplets (retinyl esters) in cells called hepatic stellate cells. When the fat is removed (typically through solvent extraction or hot oil treatments in industrial processing) the vitamin A is extracted along with it. I didn't know this before buying it.

The quality seems good and the capsules are easy to take, but unfortunately it increased my psoriasis flare-ups. If you don’t have psoriasis or autoimmune issues, it might work well for you since beef liver is nutrient-dense. For me personally, I had to stop because of the flare.

I purchased this for my dog who has been sick for about 3.5 months. It was referred to me by a friend that takes it for herself. I just separate the capsules and sprinkle it in my dogs food. I'm only giving 4 stars however, because even though separating the caps are likely not intended, it's pretty hard to do. I lost one trying to get it apart and several have dropped into the food and makes it hard to spread the powder. But, over all, they seem to have the desired affect. She's getting better. Thank you iHerb for providing vitamins and products that I can't get anywhere else for a reasonable price!
