I bought this to put in congee. It seems like a good quality herb, nice pungent smell, good taste (somewhat bitter, I feel like it tastes like a cross between celery and licorice, with a little added bitterness) . I make my chicken bone broth in the instant pot, and add a couple of TBS of angelica, a few star anise, some garlic, and an onion. Then I make congee with the broth (I have been using the congee recipe from Curious Coconut blog for years, and have always had good luck with it.) I like the flavor that the angelica and star anise add, and between the ingredients is tasty and nourishing! it is a good thing for people who are having colds or upset stomachs! (Angelica is carminative, and is soothing for the stomach, and also expectorant, and good for coughs/ bronchial troubles.) I also like having it on hand to make into homemade cough syrup.
