I am a Japanese living in the Middle East. I finally found wakame here, and it is organic, which is a big plus. I use this wakame mainly for miso soup. It tastes a little bit harder than wakame I had been eating in Japan. Maybe I should simmer for a little more time. It is in a big package, so you do not need to be stingy with the amount you use.

These organic Wakame flakes do not expand or chewy like the Japanese Wakame flakes. I like it that is organic, but the flake pieces are too fine to really taste it in miso soup. I think they cut them into too fine pieces. Update: I hadn’t realized there was another version of the Wakame called the Wakame whole leaf version. They’re out of stock now, so when they’re available I’ll switch the subscription to this version which I hope will be more like the kind I’m used to.
This type of dry watame is good for stews or soups. You're supposed to boil it, soaking in the water is not enough.
Great for miso soup. Easy to use. Reconstitutes in soup broth.
I’ve been using these to flavor miso soup and other Japanese dishes to keep them vegan and tasting of the sea.
I start adding sea plant to my food list. I add sea plant to my soup very often. Bs i dont use salt with added iodine.
recommended by mary ruddick as a prebiotic sugar source and it has iodine
Adds great umami flavor to soups and rice dishes. A little goes a long way
T grind is very fine. The taste is very strong. I use them as a natural source of iodine
It's probably the third time we buy these wakame flakes. We like that it is organically grown. They taste and smell pretty good and make delicious addition to our miso soup. My husband also loves sprinkling them on popcorn!
