Great “daytime” magnesium. NOW’s magnesium malate (95 mg elemental per cap) is easy on the stomach and less laxative than citrate. After a week my calf cramps and neck tightness eased, and I felt a little cleaner energy from the malate (Krebs cycle). Not a knockout sleep aid, but it supports deeper rest when I take some with dinner. How I take it (works): • Start 1 cap with breakfast + 1 cap with dinner. • Titrate to 2–4 caps/day (190–380 mg) based on cramps, stress, and stool tolerance. • I use glycinate at night if I need extra “calming,” and keep this malate for daytime. Pros: gentle on gut, flexible dosing, small veggie caps, 180-count is great value. Cons: only 95 mg per cap—you’ll need multiple caps to hit the usual 300–400 mg/day target; not the best if you want a pure sleep magnesium. Tips & cautions: • Take with food and plenty of water. • Separate by 2–4 hours from thyroid meds, antibiotics (tetracycline/quinolone), bisphosphonates, iron, zinc, or calcium. • If you have kidney disease or very low blood pressure, talk to your clinician first. • If stools loosen, reduce dose or split smaller.

I’ve been using NOW magnesium malate for a while now, and it’s honestly the best magnesium supplement I’ve tried. I used to take citrate from another popular brand, but it caused stomach problems. The bottle is good size and the quality, I have just started with it so still don’t know the result yet but it’s gentle on the stomach.
