We were looking for a product that would offer a lifetime of use. Staub's reputation is what we are counting on for this. Admittedly it gets a bit confusing between terms of Dutch Oven vs Cocotte as Staub offers 2 products. We understand the main difference is in the lid design and maybe slightly straiter edges but on the box tag and this review it says Cocotte not Dutch Oven when we bought the Dutch Oven?
I bought my pot at a discounted rate as it had “visual imperfections” . I am very pleased. It has a very tiny dark spot on the lid which is hard to see and does not affect its use. Great service and fast shipping also.
I LOVE THIS PIECE! Thought we'd give the black matte a try and we are in love with the texture, look, shape! We own way too many Staub pieces but my husband and I both agree this is our favorite! Best feature??? You can cook your pasta without having to break it or worry about it clumping! The size is perfect!! AND, no blemishes or anything we can see. We have purchased several "clearance" or "blemished" pieces and only one had a tiny bubble on the edge on one product.

I have collected Staub for years. As I have gotten older l am more concerned about weight. The wide oval gives more cooking surface and better weight distribution for this 75 year old cook!
Since receiving this beautifully design and engineered Dutch oven I've made several stews and breads using it. The cooking process is even throughout and leaves meat tender and bread soft with a beautiful crust. You will not go wrong or feel guilty purchasing this product...it will last you forever!
