This is a heavy stockpot with a thick base. I bought it for steaming lobsters and for large soup quantities.
Similar to all clad, fraction of the cost, favorite pot ever
I absolutely love the 16-qt. version of this pot. I bought it after retiring a 12-qt. that I used for making red sauces at home. My old pot was smaller volume and taller / narrower. The Tramontina 16-qt. shape doesn’t feel as large as my 12 qt. and the wider opening promotes faster evaporation and easier access to the contents of the pot. This is my new “cauldron” … it’s so good!
Good steel sturdy and easy to clean. Perhaps could be little bit thicker, but for home use it works

Sturdy. Heats evenly. Very roomy if you’re cooking a large quantity. Just wish Tramontina wasn’t out of the 12 quart size.
I had been looking for a quality stockpot to replace a poor quality pot that I had been using for years. After looking online at comparison reviews I decided to look more closely at Tramontina's products. After looking at what they offered, great reviews, and what was on sale I decided to buy both an 8qt and 12qt stockpot. I've already made my first batch of soup and was pleased with how it heated up, nothing burned and the clean up was easy. This is a quality product which I am sure to have for a very long time. Hooray!
I am very happy with my purchase. I use this primarily to make soups and stocks. It is the perfect size to hold all ingredients without overcrowding and it conducts heat very well. It cleans up very well and I have not noticed any scorching or discoloration.
I’ve been switching all my non-stick pans for stainless steel pans; this one is sturdy, heats evenly and works perfectly on my glass top stove and on the induction stove.
