I have had this boot for over a year and half now, I wear them everyday for farm work and on hikes. I have not had anything go wrong with the upper parts, the shoe is still waterproof. I have worn most of the sole off of them and weird they are a bit slippery on rocks now. Original laces, never oiled, I just wear them, my watch says I walk an average of 8.5 miles a day, conservative I may have over 3,500 miles on these boots. Time for a new pair, getting another pair of Olympus 6. The only item that has torn is in the heel where I step in the sole that sticks out past the boot.

After 3 months the sole tore between the toe sections on the shoe, making the shoe no longer "waterproof" and makes an INSANELY annoying squeaking sound every single step I take on any terrain. The upper ankle of the shoe is cheap foam and felt glued to the top of the low Olympus base model, with riveted hooks for lacing the upper section, the rivets do not go all the way through the foam and felt, so those tore away from shoe within days of having them.

Love these shoes! Usually buy Lone Peaks but decided to try these because they looked more durable and yes they are! Love the Vibram sole. The shoe is great for hiking or everyday walking!

I was hoping to use these for hiking both in the Blue Ridge Mountains and in the Rockies, but the stiffness of the ankles actually make them dangerous for me. No matter how I lace them, the ankle support does not allow my ankles to move naturally (it feels like the ankle support goes way beyond any hiking boot I've ever worn), and the shoes just feel big on my feet. The sizing is okay, but the shoe itself seems big and clunky, which makes them feel dangerous on the trail. I was very disappointed because I love my Altra Paradigm shoes. Unfortunately, I passed the return window and no longer have the packaging, so I guess I'm stuck with them.

I bought these boots because I'm on my feet all day. For 15 years I wore Redwing boots to do my job. Recently, my feet had been killing me at the end of the day. I only wear Altra shoes when I'm not working so I figured I should try the boots for work. I must say, my feet have been really happy with my choice. My feet no longer hurt, and the boots serve their purpose. I've only had these for about a month. Recently, like today, both boots started squeeking when I walk. Very annoying. I replaced my Redwings every 6 months due to my profession (Professional Painter). The boots still feel good but the squeek is driving me nuts!!! If I've already destroyed these boots from daily use, it will force me to look for a different product. Such a bummer.

The fit of the boot on my foot is very good but the material that connects the tongue to the shoe is very painful to my ankle no matter how I lace them. I've had to start tying them below the ankle which is less than ideal.

I love how roomy and cushy these shoes feel. While wearing the Salomon X ULTRA 5 MID WIDE on my last 16 miles hiking trip I lost three toe nails and developed a painful blister. My Olympus 6 feels so natural to walk in and there were no friction points in the forefoot. I used to wear the Hoka One One, but they discontinued them and now all their shoes feel super tight. Olympus 6 fits me perfectly, so please don't change it's design Altra.

Ooof, I'll start with the positive. This shoe is great and comfortable. I wear it in the city (Toronto winter) and did some mild winter hiking in Switzerland. Before buying, I saw a review where someone mentioned this shoe "squeaks". I was like, pfft "yeah right". And what do you know. My right shoe squeaks as I walk, and it's annoying. I went to a fitness store and tried swapping out the insole. Didn't make a difference. I don't get it, but it's real. If it weren't for the squeaking, I'd give this a solid 4. And a 5 if they had better colors; the black is like a dark, muted grey-green (but this doesn't bother me).
