I really wanted to like this since Bob’s Red Mill is a high quality brand that keeps their ingredients simple. However, the balance of the beans was too heavy on the peas so it always had a pea taste no matter what you made. I prefer bean and pea protein as it’s got great fiber and vitamins but our chili tasted like pea soup even with chili spices and fire roasted tomatoes. If you like the flavor of peas than I would recommend it for you (it’s seriously a great value) but if you are sensitive to the flavor of peas (like split pea soup) then I’d skip this one

My GO TO for making bean soup! These are non-GMO, and when rinsed before soaking overnight (and after) they are "clean" - no dirty water left behind, as I have found to be true of other dry bean mixes. The flavor and texture of the beans when cooked is excellent. I soak overnight and drain. Boil 10 minutes and drain. They go in my large crockpot with a cup of sliced carrots and half cup of chopped onion. Add seasonings (I use tsp each of dried basil, dried oregano and salt, plus one-half tsp pepper) and about 6 cups of water. They cook 8 hours on high, and voila! If wanted, a cup of cubed cooked ham can also be included in the soup. This is a complete meal, perfect for cold wintertime! A no-fail hearty soup just right for home and potlucks. Top quality ingredients = top quality taste! Try It!

I really love this mix. It cooks up nicely and thickens to a great consistency. After rinsing, I bring it to a boil then turn off the heat, leaving it covered for an hour. After draining, I add liquid and spices/herbs and cook til tender. Hearty taste and excellent quality. Simple ingredients and excellent source of protein.
