[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very excited to try out my new Cast Iron Mussel Pot by Outset, and I am happy I tried. This cast iron pot is perfect in size for 1-2 pounds of mussels. It is very heavy in weight( just as any other cast iron pot or pan) and comes pre-seasoned. However, I would advise you to season it again before your first use( recommended with any new cast iron pot). I use Avacado oil, and usually, it works excellent for reinforcing non-stick properties. The lid of this pot can be used as a bowl for discharged shells or to hold other ingredients. I am not a fan of the wooden knob on the lid's top ( not very comfortable) as well as the strainer part inside of the pot. The capacity of this pot is only 2 quart, but it looks bigger in the pictures. The pot is very easy to wash; just use dish soap and water. The mussels come out amazing, and you can taste a difference in the flavor vs. cooked in a regular pan.

I have used it for other things as well. It’s a very good heavy quality and I love it. If you like cast iron, you will want to add this to your collection.
