Chefs Classic Enameled Cast Iron 5-Qt. Round Covered Casserole

Worth every penny! This is an excellent Dutch oven/cooker for the $!

The first one I ordered had multiple pin holes in the enamel coating. I returned it and received a replacement. I didn't notice it at first but the replacement also has two small pinholes in the enamel coating on the cooking surface. My concern is that they will serve as foci where additional erosion of the enamel coating will occur. My guess and disappointment is that a 2nd replacement, ie a 3rd one, will not be any different. Nevertheless, I have been using it for deep frying and will continue to use it hoping I am wrong about the enamel coating eroding.

Only one regret. I should’ve bought this 20 years ago. Yes, it’s heavy. I will be careful not to drop it on my toes. I suspect this will be a frequently used it in my kitchen. I can’t imagine how I did without it.

I originally bought a 7-quart covered casserole (Dutch oven). I used it several times for soups, stews, and a large turkey breast. In every case it performed very well both on the stovetop and in the oven. After a while I determined that the 7-quart was really too big for me, so I have replaced it with the exact same thing, only in a 5-quart size. The finish is vey durable and does not chip like some other brands I had read about. Also, the price is so much more reasonable than some other brands. I am very happy with this purchase.

Incredibly heavy when loaded with desired food to cook but cooks very well and is easy to clean.

I love having this pot. Nothing compares. It cooks very hot, i always cook on low temperature.
