the ingredient is just brown rice syrup. taste is not very sweet mild, but the brown rice taste is prominent. once it is opened, you have to refrigerate it. hence, it becomes thick. leave out before using. works more like a thick drizzle on pancakes and takes a little longer to dissolve in hot water to make drinks. I feel that although it is "healthier," you still need more of it to taste the sweetness.
